The programme forms part of the wider Community Testing Programme (CTP) which helps to identify asymptomatic cases through local testing and supports the participants to isolate. A third of individuals who test positive for coronavirus have no symptoms at all and can therefore spread it unknowingly. Community testing uses rapid lateral flow tests to help identify those people who are infectious to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. More information about the CTP can be found here and you can find your nearest local authority testing site here.
The Department of Health and Social Care are currently running webinars at 2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays where you can find out more about the National Worker Testing Programme. This session offers an overview of the programme and will guide you through the options available, the registration process, and the operational processes. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions. You can find further details about the webinar and a link to join below.
These introductory overview sessions provide an overview of testing and will answer your initial questions:
· High level overview of Mass Testing for surveillance and Daily Contact Testing to provide understanding of the processes and what is required
· Lateral Flow Technology and reason for using
· Frequency of testing
· Resources required
· Test Site requirement
